So I had this "conversation" with some family members at a Christmas party about why I don't put up Christmas decorations. They found it absurd that I don't join in and "celebrate" the "holiday" by decorating (I am going to be using a lot of quotation marks to imply sarcasm). I just don't get it......this is an American holiday tradition and it has nothing to do with the actual celebration itself. We are celebrating the birth of Jesus, our Savior. Not evergreen trees. Not strings of lights. How do these things get people in "the Christmas spirit".....whatever the heck that is. Is it feeling good about yourself? Is it the sense of accomplishment? Is it being in a different surrounding?.......like I said, I do not get it.

I would say that doing something that Jesus would do should be the thing that "gets you in the Christmas Spirit". If Jesus were around today would he be wasting time and resources on a Christmas tree?.....No!.....no way!....he would probably say that it's foolish. I would rather take the money and time that would go into the decorating and use it wisely......like give it to the poor.....or help a family that's in need......or whatever, just something other than that.

Am I being overly dramatic.....maybe a little.
Am I being a little mean.....maybe.
Am I being sarcastic.....definitely......But my point is this: I shouldn't be labeled as weird or different or a scrooge just because I don't like decorating. That's not fair to me.

An argument for another time: Why do we buy presents for ourselfs and our family's......it's not our birthday celebration. Jesus said in the Bible: Whatever you do for the poor, you do for me.....that sounds like a good birthday present to me.

Carrie's Wedding Day

Let me tell you about my day....my little sisters wedding day.

It all started with a dream that I had the night before. I dreamed that on my way to my sisters wedding I get into a terrible car accident and die, and I have to watch her ruined wedding day from a ghostly presence in the distance....weird dream.

So, in the morning I get up, I get ready, pack up and leave. I get half way to the wedding and my truck shifts to 2nd gear while I'm on the freeway all by itself and I cant do over 40 mph. The transmission is on the fritz. I get off the freeway and somehow made it to the wedding at snail speeds.

The weather has to be mentioned. It was windy and cold, normal for Michigan this time of year.......outside wedding....yep...enough said.

The wedding was great, Adam did a great job, and everything went as smoothly as possible. Then I had to ride all the way to my parents with a tow truck driver. Not to put down tow truck drivers at all. This guy was nice, but like most of the men in his profession - he was the bee's knees and he was a talker......long ride to my parents house.

Then we unpack, what was packed for the second time and go home, change clothes, then it's off to the Aleshire family ritual when all of the family is in town.....Bowling

After bowling I stop by my friends house for a millisecond, and my other friend calls me to help him with a flat tire.......that's a fiasco because the tire was rusted to the rotor.....and that brings us to 4:00am.

Whew......long day.....it was fun and great and terrible and relaxing and stressful and joyful and annoying......and I wouldn't have changed it for the world.

The Dark Knight........Rides A Yellow Schwinn?

So if you read my last post, then you know that I was recently robbed. Well, tonight I got home late and I couldn't sleep so I did what every normal person does when they can't sleep......fight crime?

Yes, armed only with an old yellow Schwinn, flash light and cellphone, I set off ......umm.....peddled into the night. I really just wanted to get out of the house and it was a nice night.....but it turned into something more. I started thinking about how the theif did it. Did he recon certain houses? Is he on foot or in a car? Is it just some kid or any actual seasoned burglar?.......I figured if he pulled this off on a semi major road, it had to be the perfect time.....3 maybe 4 a.m.......I was determined to solve the case.

I started refining my surveillance to darker streets and older vehicles that don't have automatic locks. Yes, I took the time to do this. I went up and down every street from Trenton to Ford Line and from Eureka to Dix.......not a soul in sight.

Yes, in the early morning hours on Sept 1st, 2011, the streets of Southgate were safe.........or I've just gone a bit crazy.......or maybe a bit of both, who knows.

It was a nice night though...........

I'm on edge, I can't sleep, I'm paranoid. I keep looking out the window whenever I hear a noise.

Somebody has something that was mine, and that makes me so angry I'm sweating just thinking about it. I can't even conceive the idea of going into someone else's car and taking something from them, and then just getting away with it.....I would be over run with guilt.....I would see the persons house everytime I drove by, maybe even see the person whom I stole from, and I would be reminded of my evil doings on a daily basis. I'm not trying to say that I'm some perfect person, I have flaws and I sin too. I just couldn't do that.

Part of me is trying to just let this go because its just a stupid little contraption, a stupid little physical thing that probably would've broken in another handful of years anyways. But another part of me wants to go street by street and house by house tearing things apart until I find the little rat that did this.

I need to sleep.......goodnight all.

6 months......it's been almost 6 months since I sat down at a computer and opened up this account to even just read other friend's blogs, which I enjoy. Let alone, write on my own blog. I've been busy.

I've finally quit my part time job....well not completely - but soon I'll be done and on my own. It's a risk, and I've finally determined that I have to take it to fully commit to making my own business work.

That quote that I put at the top is interesting to me, and it really shows how mature you really are if you apply it to your life. Everyone has always told me that I am "very mature for my age"....whatever, I make the same stupid decisions as everyone. When it comes down to business or pleasure(or sleeping in) I don't always choose business....which has to change now that it's going to be my full time job.

There are few of opportunities presenting themselves to me, and I know that it's God.....it has to be, I don't have the money for advertising. And I have a lot of ideas and plans that I'm dreaming up. I'm excited and scared, but I know that I have a higher power on my side - and that's the only thing that keeps me from going insane.

Have you ever been on a vacation and the only thing that you can think about is home? I never have until today. I'm out of town at the moment, we are in Acme Michigan at the Grand Traverse Resort. There's nothing to do here except spend money on stuff, swim in the kid infested pool and some really lackluster outdoor events that we went to yesterday.

But that's the point - right? Isn't a vacation supposed to be about doing nothing? Want to know where the wife is? Doing the same thing that she does everyday. Working out. Yes she is in the resort gym. Now that's crazy, I would've went with her but I have the current viral epidemic thats going around, I can barley breathe as I write this.

Back to my main point.....I'm worried about what jobs are going on this week - I'm trying to plan ahead. I'm thinking about the snow that I will have to shovel when I get home. I'm thinking about all kinds of stuff.....I'm on vacation! So, this is my first step at relaxation, I'm browsing the internet, reading and writing this blog. I'm current reading Cash: The Auto-Biography (Johnny Cash) - It's good, OneBigHappy let me borrow it. I'm thinking that I will read a little bit and have some coffee.

Well, this has been the most humorless, pointless blog I've ever written. So I'll leave you with a short side note:

You know those dancing sign holder people, sometimes they are in a costume and they are dancing with the sign that points to the business that they want you to go to. Have you ever been driving down the street and seen one of these dancers and said to yourself, "Hey, I think I might just go get a pizza right now" or " Geez, I guess I do need my taxes done - and look I happen to have all of my tax documents with me!" - so you make an at speed turn into the place and actually buy their product? It just seems like wasted dollars on advertisement to me. They don't entice me into buying their product.

I love the ones that are totally not into it, they are on their phone texting some one and they are holding the sign under their arm. If you don't have a good work ethic when you're only job is holding a sign where people can see it - All hope is lost.

That is half of the current unemployment problem. So I say, don't cut dollars for education, increase them or at least leave them the same. The last thing that we need is less educated people.

Don't take this the wrong way I actually agree with most of the changes that Gov. Snyder is making. It's just a joke.......is it really a joke if you have to explain it?

Scene opens with Tom walking into a Starbucks chain coffee house. He walks up to the counter and is confusingly looking at the menu while waiting in line behind a slightly larger, balding man in a similar winter coat. The man finishes his order and then, almost as if human nature provided him with the knowledge of knowing where your recently ordered product appears before you, went to the "pickup area". This is the location at which you meet your destined drink and depart to your table of choice or exit the store, making sure to wrap your now "to go" beverage with the appropriate, free, cup sleeve. This man reaches this location as Tom walks toward the counter, still unsure of the proper drink to summons from the magical "pickup area". He pause for an acceptable amount of time before asking the clerk:

"How's the light mocha?......does it taste ok?"

The clerk, trapped in an awkwardly long pause, only responds with noises that insinuate that he in fact does not know the answer to the question.

Tom then interrupts the "caveman noises" coming from the clerk and says:

"What's good?....In your opinion."

The clerks attitude changes, as if his human body was just encompassed by an alternate spirit. He quickly says:

"Do you want my opinion? Or Starbuck's opinion?"

Tom pauses for a very brief second, and in this second he has determined and judged this clerks character. He has concluded that he has no desire to be in the current establishment and that his opinion may be, if not accurate, then at least somewhat amusing. So he decides to hear the clerk out. He says:

"Well...your opinion."

The clerk quickly, as if he already knew what Tom's response would be, says:

"I don't drink anything on this menu."

Tom, being somewhat amused by the clerks comment and failure to contain any loyalties to his current employer, chuckles under his breathe and says:

"Ok then, should I go to another coffee shop?"

The clerk says:

"Sure, if you want to."

Tom, kind of blown away with the last "cherry-on-top" comment, thinks to himself: "I wouldn't even be here if it wasn't for this stupid gift card". Then Tom, as if he has just been defeated in an arm wrestling match, says:

"Just give me a Cafe' Mocha...Thanks"

".....for nothing" are the next words that Tom mutters in his head.

The clerk continues to ring up the order and then moves to the bar area to Tom's left and begins talking to what appears to be a regular in this self proclaimed crappy coffee house.

Tom then instinctively moves to the magical "pickup area" and awaits his settled upon beverage. Then prepares the cup in it's "to go" garb and carries it to his vehicle. The entire journey to his car he thinks of a witty way of writing about this on his blog....but comes up blank.

Happy Saturday Everyone,

For some reason I love releasing my customer service debacles on this blog. I hope that its not boring for the 13 readers that I have.

I own a business and I strive for 100% customer satisfaction - It's not an option for a good business, it's a requirement. It makes me so angry when companies that you feed your money to wont give you the time of day - or they are rude - or they just don't care. It's insanity.

This is my latest fight: I ordered four HP 92 ink cartridges - I received four HP 94 cartridges. All that I want is the correct order.....not too hard right. But this company that I order from (at least once a week, sometimes more) doesn't have a phone number (I know, rediculous right?) so they will only communicate via email. Stupid, that's what that is. Well they just wont respond to me, and in the mean time, it makes me look bad because my clients are waiting.

I'm a fanatic when it comes to this musician- I love his music, I love his lyrics - but most of all I love the way that he acts - that's really a lost art in this age. He's a respectable person in real life.

I have had a few experiences where I've meet the artist and found out that they are just jerks that make great music. It's nice to see someone out there that's.....well........normal.

OK, haven't wrote on here in a while, But....I needed to just complain about this one little thing and then I'll get out of your hair.

This little saying popped up a little while back and now it's spreading like wild fire. I can't figure out what the origin is, but it's climbing into the rankings with the likes of:

"Talk to the hand"

"Can you hear me now?"

"Doh!"

"Watchu talk bout Willis?"

"That's what she said"

"Just do it"

"I'm just chillaxin"

"Your mom went to college"

"What up Dawg"

and

"You'll end up living in a van, down by the river!"

(Well maybe not that last one)

Here it is: "Just sayin"

I'll give you an example:

"Did you see Sara's new haircut?"

"Yeah, it looks good"

"Well, I think it looks like crap, Just sayin"

It's like someone just gave you free reign to say whatever you want, and as long as you say: "Just sayin" at the end then you're all good - can't be mad at me because I'm just sayin...........

At no other time throughout you're day is it important to tell people what you just did.......

While walking up the stairs: "Good morning, Just walkin"

While typing: "Sorry hold on a sec, Just typin"

While eating lunch: "So how have you been, Just eatin"

While driving down Eureka Rd.: "What is your problem? why can't you just learn how to drive, Just ragin"

Other people disguise that fact that they are really just pushing their opinions onto you - in a somewhat subtle way (but not really).

I'm "Just sayin" that's all I'm doing. I'm not "Just tellin" you how its gonna be

I'm not "Just screamin" at you for leaving all the lights on

I'm not "Just stadin" up for what's right....nooooooooo... I'm"Just sayin" so that means that it's not as offensive.

It's just another way for people to take a neutral standing on something.......While actually having a strong opinion on the matter...........

I have been REALLY busy lately. I started my own business in April of this year "Arrowtech Computer Solutions" - I fix computers and sell office supplies, sell computers, etc. Meanwhile, I am still working at my previous employer Tuesday through Friday - I can't find a second to breathe.

Really it's not 100% true - I mean, it's factually true, all of those things happened - but the time part may have been a stretch. I am horrible at time management. For some reason, I have to take time once a day to watch a T.V. show. I should be able to go one full day without watching T.V. - It's like drug.

Have you ever seen the movie "The Truman Show", some days I feel like Truman Burbank -like today is the same as last. Everyday I get up do the same routine, but on the same clothes (they're clean, don't worry) and I brush my teeth the same way I drive the same route to work sit in the same traffic everyday and do the same tasks at work. I come home and sit in the same chair and watch T.V. go to sleep in the same bed and stare at the same black ceiling for hours. I feel like I'm not making any progress at all. I am running in place.

I recently hurt my back....again - and I had to go see Dr. Nick (Chiropractor). His office is in Newport so it's a little ways down I-75. When I get to the stretch right before Newport where the road straightens out and there is farm land on both sides of the freeway I think about what would happen if I just keep on driving, just drove until I hit that cloud painted screen where the fake world ends.

Then I get off at the Newport exit and go about my day.

The Disposition Center

I am currently making a huge mess out of my house. We decided to move, well, pretty much everything in our house to a new location. Room C was our master bedroom. Room A was my office and Room B was.......well no one really knows what room B was. Kind of a storage room\closet\changing room\ laundry hamper\library.

Anyways, I (by myself) emptied out Room A and B into the living room dinning room area. Then my cousin (Dave) and I moved all of the furniture from Room C into Room A and B. And on top of it all, I'm painting Room A.

So when everything is said and done - Room A will be a spare room\dressing room (Both of our dressers will be in there) Room B will be the bedroom (Just the bed and two night stands) and Room C will be Hell......um .....I mean .... my office.

All of this leading up to the actually story.

As many of you know, I recently started my own company (Arrowtech Computer Solutions) and I needed office gear. My friend Rich told me about this magical place in Ann Arbor that sells all of the stuff that U of M wants to be rid of. Old desks, Book shelfs, file cabinets, computers, vehicles, electronics, etc. etc. - Anything that they want to get rid of. So, I decided to go because I needed a good desk and a workbench.

This place is awesome, I was in a nerdy heaven of used electronics and gizmos and gadgets of all types. I could have spent hours upon hours in there, not to mention thousands of dollars. But as a responsible adult (who was on a budget) I got what I needed and got out. Here's what I made out with.

1 - Steelcase Computer Desk (in good condition) - $50

1 - Work bench\table - $20

1 - Office chair - $20

1 - Office lamp - $10

100 bones - that's pretty good for pimping out an office - I think. Anyways I just wanted to inform all of you about the U of M Disposition Center and all of it's glory.

You guys have already heard about my crazy voice mail service - it just makes voice mail so much more fun when the message is scrambled. I've started playing a game where I try to decipher the message before I listen to it and then see how close I get.

I'm easily amused.

On Saturday, I was at a graduation party for Bri's cousin (Becca) and I was sitting at the table and got this phone call, it was a number that I did not recognize but since I started using my cell for a business phone, I've been answering random calls. Well, I was sitting at a table filled with Bri's family so I decided to let this one slide.

When I looked at the voice mail transcript I almost laughed out loud (That's right - a real life, actual LOL) but I refrained (I believe that's - LIMH). The message read: "Your brain on the 11 o'clock"

For some reason the first thing that popped into my head was Devin Scillian from Channel 4 saying: "Tonight an exclusive interview with your brain, That's right learn what your brain might not be telling you tonight on the 11 o'clock news"

The person who left the message actually said: " Well, they don't even answer the phone!"

Not even close to the transcript - but they said it really fast.

Speaking of news anchors, and just so everyone is aware. Bri is totally infatuated with Ben Bailey from Fox 2.

Let's do some math

(These are all rough estimates)

25% of people can't use new technology when it becomes available, because, it's just toooooo hard to learn and no one will teach them - so they play dumb (some of them, just really are dumb, sorry)

Ok so - that leaves 3/4 of the pie. - out of that 75% - half of them try to use it and fail miserably. I mean they just have no idea what they are doing, but they try and try and try and fail.

So that leaves, um.........roughly 37.5%

Half of that group sneaks by with a limited amount of knowledge, just enough to impress the other 62.5% that don't know what they are doing at all.

That leaves us with 18.75% - Ok half of this group actually kind of knows what they are doing, but for some reason they just don't use it - for whatever reason. Maybe they can't afford to buy it or they just really like the old one, or someone told them not to get the new one, I don't know. This group gets it, they just don't use it.

That leaves 9.375% - The experts, nothing else said. They completely get it 100%.

You can apply this to anything: Computers, Cameras, T.V.'s - any gizmo or gadget you can think up.

I find it better to be thankful for things instead of mad - so in my own sarcastic way, here's a list of things that I'm thankful for this week:

1. Thank you (anonymous co-worker) for taking an entire week off and leaving me with a ton of work on the busiest week of the month. (not really his fault - but I'm adding it to the list)

2. Thank you old lady in a 1995 Ford Escort that refuses to drive any faster than 30 MPH at any given time, on any given road.

3. Thank you unobservant driver for hitting my wife's car at 40 MPH at 7 a.m. (on Thursday)

4. Thank you Enterprise car rentals for closing at 1pm

5. Thank you all other car rental companys for not even being open on Saturdays (People still need cars on Saturdays)

6. Thank you 1994 Chevy Blazer for being the most dependable truck that I have ever owned from 1994 to June 3rd, 2010.

Dream #3 - 05-20-2010

Ok - so I'm all talk about having these crazy dreams, because, I'm three in and none of them have been all that crazy....oh well.

Dream #3:

Ever get up to the alarm and mumble something, maybe even sit up for a minute, and then instantly fall right back asleep? That's me, every day. Ever do that and then dream that you didn't? I do that a lot. I'll get up decide what to wear, eat something get in the car drive down the road and then...poof...back in bed. Non of it actually happened. Great. And now, guess what, you're running late so you get to re-live everything - in fast motion.

I feel right back to sleep and dreamt that I woke up and got ready and then I went to this regional chamber meeting that I started going to on Thursday mornings. (I started a company) Well about half way through the meeting, very large, ground shaking explosions started coming from outside. We opened the door and a scene that looked like it was in the movie "Saving Private Ryan" was outside.

Then I woke up.

Late.

Really late.

Dream #2 - 5-12-2010

I am trying to keep up with this, but with all of the busyness this last week I have been slipping.

Dream #2 - 5-12-2010

I had a conversation with my dad right before I went to bed this night. He was telling me about how my truck (the one that he gave me) is very easy to steal. He told me this because I was going downtown in a few days. My parents, like many people their age, try to avoid "the D" as much as possible. They've been trained to think that way their whole lives. It's not their fault. Me - I have a different approach to the topic, which has resulted in many long "conversations" (not fights) with them.

Regardless, he told me about this just as I was getting ready to go to bed. Now, I love this truck. It's not in any great shape, it's not in bad shape either, it "needs work" - mostly cosmetic work. But, that's not why I love this truck. I grew up in this truck. We took this truck on all of our vacations. We took it on the Silver Lake Sand Dunes, we took it hunting, we took it everywhere that we went as a family from roughly 1994 to 1999 - I even took my driving test with it.

The dream:

Not much to this one. The dream starts with me driving the truck down I-75, headed toward Detroit. For some reason, my friend Mario is with me. We pull off and start driving around Detroit. It's very dark, the sky looks like the sky in the Terminator movies when they show "Judgement Day". We are driving around for quite a while. We finally arrive at our destination, a small bar with an extremely large parking lot. I park as close to the bar as possible and we go in. When we exit the bar hours later, we see that there is a person in my truck. he has already broken in and is hot wiring the truck. He peels out of the parking lot before we can get to the truck. I then see another person getting into their own vehicle, I steal that vehicle and try to catch the guy that stole my truck. But, he is way faster then me. I head back to the bar and get into lots of trouble for stealing the car that I stole. And I never saw my truck again.

In dreams, emotions seam to differ from real life. You can see someone die in a dream and feel no emotion, or it can feel as if it were real. This felt like ten times worse then how it would've really felt. I was really really sad. When I woke up, I got out of bed and looked out the window just to make sure that the truck was still there. Sounds silly, I know.

Dream #1 - 04-27-2010

I've decided to start recording my dreams on my blog. For those of you who have never heard me talk of my dreams in the past, here's a few short summarizations of some of the best\weirdest.

The Stabbing Reflection:

In my old house, the bathroom has two mirrors. One right above the sink and then one on the wall next to the sink, on the left (it was one of those hidden cupboard\mirror things). Anyways, in this re-occurring dream, I get out of bed in the middle of the night and walk into the bathroom, I turn on the water and splash some water in my face (very cliché, like in horror movies when you know that something is about to pop out at you). Then I think that I notice my reflection move without me moving and I quickly dismiss it. Then, I look to my left in the other mirror and there is a very angry looking me with a knife. He jumps out of the mirror and kills me. Stabs me to death. Then the fake me shuts off the bathroom light and lays down in my bed.

The End of the World:

I had another re-occurring dream when I was younger that was really short. It was one of those dreams where you dreamed the same thing about ten times in one night. The dream starts with me walking to work (I got a job when I was eleven, sorting bottles, cleaning and stocking shelves at the corner party store on my street). When I got to work I went into the cooler to stock the pop and such. Then through the cooler door and through the front window of the store, in between the Pepsi bottles, I see mass destruction. I see cars, signs, people and trees all flying down Eureka, as if Metro Airport had become a gigantic black hole. Then I see a building flying towards me (through the Pepsi bottles). It's the tall building at Eureka and I-75, the one that used to be a bank. It flattens the party store like a pancake and then I wake up. It's that sudden "I just fell off of a cliff" awakening. I hate those.

The Alien Invasion:

I've had this one a few times. It's a Mad Max\Aliens Attack scenario. Me and my dad and a few other guys that are no body's, made up people, are saying in my Grandma's house. And we have the place locked down, barricaded, stationary guns, the whole nine yards. Why? Because, we can't trust anyone. You see, aliens have begun "infecting" people. human beings are being turned into aliens that look, talk and act like humans - but they aren't. Anyways, this dream is always a little different each time, but always involves a giant battle at the end - I always get shot. And that's when I wake up. Yay!

Ok so here is the dream that I had Tuesday night:

Grandpa - The Mad Scientist:

I was helping my grandpa clean out his garage. He's a pack rat, so the garage is always a mess. Most of this dream was boring, just me spending time with my grandpa. Then things started getting weird. He started saying things that made him sound crazy. I can't remember everything, but at one point he started suggesting that we build stuff. Really weird, so weird that I ran inside to call someone to come help me. When I got inside my grandma starting yelling at e to get back outside. So, I almost immediately turned around and opened the door that I just closed. Within those four or five seconds that the door was closed, a gigantic "thing" was now in the driveway. It's was the length of the entire driveway, it was made out of wood and metal and you could walk underneath it, almost like a carport. Then it turned on, lights started flashing and it started making loud "wind-like" noises. Then I turned to my right and saw my grandpa running down the length of this device. He grabbed my shirt as we ran by, and started asking me to go with him. As we were running, strange items started flying by our heads. Things from the past, old furniture and old cars even old people (not old in age, old like from another time). My grandpa then started explaining to me (while running) that he had built a time machine and that he needed to go back and "fix the past". Then I woke up.

Fast Food

It's hilarious.

But, I too hate fast food. Not so much the food as the " I really don't care and I have no pride in my work" mentality that comes with acquiring a job at T-Bell or Mickey D's.

Google Voice Mail

I've recently switched to using Google Voicemail. It's a riot. For those of you who don't know what it is, it's a service that bypasses your phone providers voicemail and forwards it to your Google account. Then the mad scientist's over at Google have built a robot that listens to the voice message and sends you the transcript via text message. Also, you can log into your Google account and listen to your voice mails or read the transcript. The delete features are similar to the way that emails work. Which I like.

Just kidding on the robot part, it's really a trained chimpanzee named Frank.

Anyway - it's hilarious. It has actually made voice mails fun.

Here's an example of a voice mail transcript that my Grandma sent me:

"Hi Tommy, it's Brandon, I was just calling to see if you was gonna be little bit of a good night. I'm a trip at, so give me a call probably rider. Bye."

Here's what she really said:

"Hi Tommy, it's Granny, I was just calling to see if you was going to be real busy tonight. I made your pies, so give me a call. Talk with you later. Bye."

Now, she's from the south so some of you probably could not have done a better job. But, I love it anyways.

Also, it thinks that "Dave McWhorter" is "Civil Court" so when Dave leaves me a voice mail it says: "Hi Tom, this is Civil Court"

I laugh and laugh and laugh........

One time a certain someone, accidentally called me and left me a 4 minute voice message of some people talking:

"What's up. Yeah. Please stay on Wednesday and what it but well it 94, yeah but yeah yeah. Thanks. Bye. Yeah, I don't know. 63. Why. Brett yo, yeah this is yes. Yeah butyeah yeah. Yes, thank you. Yeah below but well bye. But all that. Yeah, I hope. Bye. Hi hi, Iraq, ha ha. Yeah, yo. Bye, or who have a lot i, a daughter. I can tell. Yeah, Hello,this is another call. Hey at don't. I don't know."

The Driveway

Ok -so - my driveway is huge. I can easily fit maybe 7 cars in my driveway. Which is great for parties, I have more parking spaces then I have chairs. However, it's bad for snow, I've been drooling over snowblowers every year, but I just haven't been able to get one yet. I just shovel enough for Bri to get her car in and out of her spot, and I leave my side un-shoveled.

Fake Audience Member #1: "But that's not what this b-word is about"

Me: "Sorry, I got off topic"

Fake Audience Memeber #2 : "Stay on topic Tom!"

Me: "Ok - Ok - Just stop yelling"

So - before we begin I need to show you a diagram of my driveway:

I parked in a different spot, as you can see. Well, I forgot to move my truck last night and Bri leaves first so it was in her way when she got up.

So she has three options:

1. Move my truck out of her way.

2. Wake me up so I can move my truck.

3. Down an entire fifth of liquor, wait ten minutes, and then move my truck out of her way.

When I was younger I wanted to be Gavin Rossdale.

I also wanted to be Eddie Van Halen, Chris Robinson, Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, George Harrison, Paul McCartney, John Popper, Kirk Hammett, Alex Lifeson, Geddy Lee, Sammy Hagar, Eddie Vedder, Angus Young, Eric Clapton, B.B. King, Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash.

But - Really I wanted to be Gavin Rossdale. Why? I don't why. I listened to the album "Sixteen Stone" until the tape wore out. I guess that he was a pretty descent role model, he kept his nose clean. I never heard of him getting into drugs or anything.

You always hear people say things like: "Doesn't he know that he's a role model?" "He shouldn't be doing that?" - Yeah, he shouldn't, but he's human -and humans tend to make mistakes. Your kids aren't going to learn morals from the Michael Jordan's of the world. Our kids need to see morals in their homes. I'm not a parent yet, but when I am, I hope that I set a good example. I hope that my kids see me acting like Jesus would act. Those are some big shoes to fill.

(I want to play bass in Jesus's band - he can be the front man.)

Two people that I forgot to put on that list: Paul Aleshire and Marie Aleshire.

Marie Aleshire picked me up every week for church, she bought me dress clothes, she cleaned my room when I went on vacation, she made me dinner, she watched us when my parents couldn't, she made sure that I knew right from wrong, she scolded me when I disobeyed, she made sure that I was taken care of and - she loved me.

Paul Aleshire picked me up from school, watched me while I slept until my parents got home from work, fixed things when I broke them, showed me how to fix things when I broke them, taught me that there's always time for a good story, taught me that there's always time for family, taught me how to be courteous, taught me how to be generous, taught me that family is everything and - he loved me.

Those two people are my grandparents, they aren't perfect, but every kid should have role models like that in their lives.

The Predicament - When you are driving on the highway and there is a car in each lane doing 10 or 15 MPH under the speed limit, and they all insist on not moving.

The Snowy Predicament - The same as The Predicament, except for, the left lane is blocked due to snow and not a vehicle.

The Hail Mary - When someone is going well over the speed limit and will not slow down for anything.

The Creep - When the driver of another vehicle just stares at you as they pass.

The Leech - When someone is following you way too close.

The Tandem - When someone is doing The Hail Mary and has a Leech.

The Chaser - When a driver is passed for going too slow and then "Chases" the passing vehicle out of rage.

The American Idol - When someone is really into singing while driving.

The Johnny Cash - When someone will not change lanes for any reason.

The Muncher - When eating affects a persons driving.

The Rupaul - When you are convinced that the person driving a vehicle is a woman, and then it turns out it's a man. (I am not sexist - you know that it's happened to you too)

Pump 8

Hi all, this is a short-story\blog that I have been working on. I figured that this would be the best place to share it with everyone. Enjoy!

Pump 8

"$20 dollars on pump 8", I said and then quickly turned and walked away from some generic foreign gas station worker behind a generic orange gas station counter. “Why are gas station counters always some weird color?” I thought, as I pushed open the cold aluminum door and the winter air smacked me in the face. I don't mind, I prefer the cold over the harsh humid days of summer. I quickly walk back to my truck, still thinking about orange countertops.

I started thinking about a friend who has passed away as I unscrewed the gas cap. I don't think about things like most people do. Thoughts just randomly pop into my head, but they are usually inspired by something. For example, I see a Pepsi can laying on the ground, which reminds me of my childhood because we always had Pepsi in our house, ton’s of it, which reminds me of my first job at the corner store two doors down from my house where I got my first job when I was 11 years old. I sorted pop bottles among various other tasks. I made $4.00 an hour, under the table. I worked after school until 6pm or 8pm or whenever the owner, Louie, wanted me to work until. I got free pizza all the time (The store sold pizza. He had a pizza oven and sold huge, over-sized slices of pizza for $1.00 each). My family use to by two or three bags of dough, some sauce, some fresh graded cheese and some pepperoni from that store so we could make our own pizza at home.

I saved up money for two months so that I could buy…… (Drum roll)…. A brand new super-soaker, that’s right a squirt gun, an awesome squirt gun. It had a 180 degree shooting range, and dual tanks. I bought it and I was the king of the super-soakers, for one summer, then I broke it.

0 degree shooting range.

The price on the pump nears two dollars and still not even a gallon in the tank yet. The pump is miserably slow ………..

I think about the time that I learned about priorities while driving. I bought this truck, a 1988 S-10 pickup. It was the second car that I ever bought, actually my parents bought it for me and I was paying them small payments for it. One day I decided to skip the last two classes at school. To do this you had to sneak through the gym to the back doors, crack the door and look for the security guard. You would then wait for him to make his round in front of the gym doors and when he just gets out of sight you run for your car. After that, you time it just right to make it to the alternate entrance to the parking lot, which is a small residential road. Well, as I was making my big escape I was trying to open a bottle of Pepsi and I dropped the bottle. Now an advanced driver will tell you to stop and take care of this mess, they would not tell you to try to pick up the bottle while doing 35 through a parking lot. I did the later and in the process hit a patch of ice and then a telephone pole. It took my Dad months to fix that truck, not to mention a lot of cash.

All of this from a Pepsi can.

So, my friend who passed away, let’s call him Tony, he is the one who I was thinking about. Why? Because the guy on pump 7 is driving a Plymouth Acclaim that looks similar to the car the Tony used to have. We use to drive around in that car and listen to DJ Jazzy Jeff and The Fresh Prince.

I think about the "static electricity blew up my car at the gas pump" myth all the time when I'm at the gas station. What a bunch of crap. It's happened to me before you know, jump out of the car and grab the metal handle and then pull your hand back in pain as you are attacked by this harmless metal object. My car never exploded. I think that the Mythbusters proved that one to be a myth. And yet every time that I jump out of my car at a gas station I remember to ground myself to the car before touching anything.

I peer inside the truck to see how much gas I have accumulated in the tank. The needle has barely moved and my hands feel numb. I stick them inside my coat pocket to try to get some feeling back. What is it - Ten degrees today? Feels like negative five to me. But I'm not a complainer

I can my see my breath collide with gas fumes in the air. Winter is beautiful when you are in a snowy paradise. A winter morning in northern Michigan is what I imagine heaven will look like. You can't hear anything but your own footsteps in the snow, an occasional bird chirping and the gentle movement of water down a small stream. A deer slowly galloping through a field blanketed with snow, the trees barley moving at all. All of the sounds are soothing to the ear. Not here, not in the city. Peace and quiet never comes when you live in the city. There is always a dog barking, or a car radio that is extremely loud. There is always a group kids walking in front of your house, dropping candy wrappers and empty slurpie cups in your yard. There are always people yelling at their kids and throwing cigarette butts out of their windows - Cars honking and people hurrying.

The city devours every little piece of quiet.

I think about kids as I see a mother pull her mini-van up to the pump adjacent to mine, pump 5 I think, I can see the busyness in the back of the van. 3 or 4 or maybe 5 kids in the back, jumping from seat to seat, restlessly playing inside of the van while mom fills up the tank. She opens the door and yells at one of them, a generic “You’d better stop hitting your sister!” or “You don’t want me to come back there!” – I can’t remember. I want kids though, I really do. But, I still feel like a kid. If I had a kid right now we would probably like the same cartoons. Which I’m fine with; I would want nothing more than to a have a mini-me to watch T.V. with, someone who would enjoy everything that I enjoy. When I was little everything that my Dad liked I wanted to like, that’s what kids do. But those are the selfish reasons. I want kids because I want my family to continue. I have been working on my family tree recently, and the reason that I have been working on it is to have it to give to my kids, so that they will know where they came from. It’s good to know where you came from - it reminds you that you are supposed to continue on.

I’m daydreaming again, The lady at the pump next to me probably thinks that I’m on drugs or something, because I’m just starring at the concrete, motionless. I notice a blown fuse lying on the ground I pick it up and toss it into the garbage can. It reminds me of when my friend came and picked me up because I had no headlights when a fuse blew in that old S-10. I remember that day in great detail, but not for any reason that you would think of. I remember it because it was one of the first times that I needed help and a friend came and helped me. I think that was the day that I learned what true friendship is. True friendship, is being available.

The cold is slowly creeping inside my one-size-too-small winter coat. My grandfather gave me the coat four years ago and, let’s just say, I have seen lighter days. But I refuse to temporarily retire it.

The cold obviously does not deter anyone from the gas station. Almost every pump is taken.

I love that even in the dead of winter teenagers will still have radio wars at the gas station. If you leave your radio on with the doors open while you pump gas, then everyone will hear your music, and you will be cool! But what if someone else is doing the same thing as you? Well, you just turn yours up louder of course!

I think that one of the reasons for my extreme obsession with music is this: In any period of time, a minute, an hour, a day, something can go wrong. There is potential for something to go terribly wrong. Inside of a song, nothing can go wrong, it’s perfect, it’s complete, it is exactly what the artist wanted you to hear.

So a couple of weeks ago, I wrote a blog about how I correctly spelled the word "parenthesis". Well, I did spell that word correctly but I recently found out that it's the singular form of the word for everyone's favorite bracket. The correct way to spell it, if you're talking about a pair of them, is "parentheses".

A story that I heard today reminded me of this song (One of my favorite songs and this b-word is named after it). The story was about this kid who left his family and friends and ran away to California. While he was there he got into some trouble, got hurt and had no money, nothing but the clothes on his back. So he had to call home. His dad bought him a plane ticket home and wired him some money for food. His parents loved him no matter what.

He was so stupid.

Impressive - I know

The most un-exciting part of my day was the treacherous drive into work. I really hate having to drive so far, so quickly (which is really my fault for waking up so late). I left my house at 8:25 am (late) and I had to be at work (Livonia) and in a meeting that starts at 9:00am. I got to work at 9:02am, ran into the meeting room and the lights were off - no one around. The meeting was cancelled.

So - I rushed to work so fast that I didn't eat anything, for nothing - And I really don't have all that much to do today.

But I'm a good speller (not really)

I fell away from the, affectionately titled, "Blogosphere" for a while. Here's what been going down:

Inevitably, hunting season started. I saw a small spike, at a distance on the last day of bow season and a bunch of Doe during rifle. Any hunter will tell you that's the equivalent of a no hitter in baseball( the side with no hits - just to clarify).

What else..(I'm doing this on the fly if you can't tell)..

I've been learning a little bit about HTML - My good friend Mario coached me through a project at work - That's super interesting (Sarcasm)

I have to talk about music - I went to a Joe Purdy concert in Columbus - Totally awesome!!! Here's a brand new song that he played at the show called "Angelina"- I somehow came across it, someone just left it out there streaming on the internet for me to take - Like a quarter dropped on the ground. It's a super great song, it's about someone who kills a woman that he adores - kinda weird, but a very good song. - Check it out.

A Hundred Miles played a battle of the bands preliminary show and we got first place - We have to go play again, in Ohio, for the finals - first place gets $1,000 - The catch?, You ask - Worst venue ever!

***Spoiler Alert*** - The next paragraph is sad. :(

My Aunt Pearl passed away two weeks ago (Actually, my Great Aunt Pearl, but we called her Aunt Pearle), she was in a car accident, very sudden. I wasn't super close to her, but I grew up going to the same church as her. Her husband, My uncle Amen, used to take me with him to the front of the church during the service to sing in the choir (Which I remember enjoying very much) - I cried at her funeral, I didn't think that I would...but I did, not until I went past her casket. I felt strange, very sad. The only thing that I could think of was how horrible it would be to lose a spouse that suddenly. No warning - just gone.

Ok - No more sadness - just pure non-filtered anger

My truck broke down on Eureka on my way to take my suit to the dry cleaners. Ok - So I'm stopped in the right lane at like 2:00pm on a Monday in front of Borders and I have my hazard lights on and every super old grandpa and grandma that are out for their daily 25 MPH sight seeing drive, had to stop about 4 inches from my bumper (probably because they could't see my hazards), sit there for 5 minutes until they figured out what was going on and back up in traffic and go around me. One of them even had the audacity to honk at me. At some point someone needs to pass a law to take your license away when you get too old.

My work cut everyone to 32 hours - it sucks, I'm broke. If anyone needs computers repaired or built or if anyone just wants to hire me for anything (no sex jokes) - Just give them my digits.

That's about it for now. Sorry for the long B-word - but when you only get one every two months it's gotta be long.

I'll try to keep up.

Oh, this is a good one.

First off, the background of the story. I build computers, at least a couple a month. People pay me to do this for them. I like doing it. I buy all the parts from online suppliers, because the stores around here are very overpriced. Well, this company charged me for the same order twice, two weeks apart from eachother, and it caused my bank account to overdraw.

Tigerdirect was my go to supplier for any parts that I needed mainly because of how quickly they were delivered. This small mistake would have been easily forgiven if your staff would have dealt with the issue promptly and fully.

If I had to take a stab at it I would say that he wants to believe that there is a God but he doesn't really see any proof of it - I'm mixing these lyrics with what I already kind of know about him.

Later on in the album on the song "Why I Am" he says this.

And when my story ends it's gonna end with him.
Heaven or hell I'm going there with the GrooGrux King.

It sounds to me like he believes that there is a Heaven and a Hell, it doesn't sound like he knows where he is going.

Or he's just making a point about how much he loved his friend, who knows.

Fallon For The First Time

Has anybody watched "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon"? It's strange. This was only the 3rd or 4th time that I've watched it and it's like he's unprepared to do the show like someone just woke him up from a nap or something. I've always kind of liked Fallon - On SNL, but now that he's got his own rodeo, it's just...strange. He starts the show with a monologue, like most late night shows, he's wearing a suit that's a size too small, and he makes it overly noticeable that he is reading cue cards - like pausing to read ahead on the card and stumbling over pronunciations of words. Very un-prepared, and it's seems as if he's nervous, but he's not (I think). His body language says that he's scared out of his mind.

And then he did a bit called "slow jam the news" and I laughed through the whole thing.

So, In conclusion: I'm on the fence about Jimmy Fallon being a talk show host, but he's a funny guy.

Coconut Records

I bought an album the other day, on a whim, I do that sometimes. It's really good. It's a solo project by Jason Schwartzman called Coconut Records. There are two album's so far Nighttiming (2007) and Davy (2009) - I am buying Davy today because the other one was really good. Niighttiming is different, it is definitely an indie album - but it has more of a raw sound than other indie bands. It sound as if he intentionally made the album sound "unpolished". I've heard other bands try to pull that off but Schwartzman does it exceptionally well. He mixes that sound with very "old school" sounding synth and witty lyrics. Here is one lyric that stood out to me as funny and yet sad at the same time.

It's Been Such A Long Time

Hello All - I know that my consistency in the so called "blogosphere" has been somewhat horrible. For the last two weeks at work I have taken on new responsibilities that have temporarily rendered me useless to family, friends, loved ones, strangers, myself. It's hilarious what we will do, or not do, when we are really really busy - which things we will give up doing first to make time for other things. All of a sudden, simple everyday things like showering become a major hassle (I shower, don't worry). I find myself doing un-characteristic things, like telling people no. I told my sister-in-law no when she asked me to fix her computer, why? - I would have never done that on a normal week. My wife and sis in law were making mac and cheese at her place and they asked me to come over to eat some. MAC & CHEESE!!!!!! What do you think I said? - - - - - - - "I'm too tired" - too tired for mac & cheese. ~ tear ~

I took a nap in the middle of the day.......I over reacted when someone left only one slice of pizza in the box (But really, who does that? that’s like leaving a little bit of milk in the jug - it's just enough milk for.....nothing. Or like leaving only half of a peanuty treat in the cupboard that you weren't supposed to eat. You know who you are.).....

We've been recycling for a little while now and Bri just went and got a recycling bin (Before the bin, recycling meant bagging it up and putting it in the garage). Bri, being smarter, read the pamphlet and it said to not put the water bottle caps in the bucket.

Ok, so, when you're sitting on the couch and you're in the funky funk that I've been in where you really really like conserving energy (laziness), and you just finished a bottle of water and the recycling bin is 2 feet to your left and the trash can is 15 feet away. What do you do???

You take the cap off, and try to basketball each of the two components into their respective bins.

And it never works.

SO,I haven't posted here in a while. I've been too busy to. Work has been crazy and some days I just want to scream at the top of my lungs. But, I'm just grateful to have a job at the moment.

I've also been juggling MBP stuff too - trying to get a website up, trying to get things organized, etc., etc.

Anyways, we are possibly in search for a new name for the band (currently The Michael Blair Project). So, I'm asking for your opinion and/or your help. We need ideas.

And please, do not say "Kathleen Turner Overdrive", everybody says that every time that I ask. It's cheesy because it's from a movie (a very funny movie), and there is already a punk band in Atlanta with that name.

But, other than that all other names will be accepted, if we pick your name - we'll, like, give you something. You'll be that proud owner of Michael's extra pick tree (some of you won't even know what that is), or maybe Ryan Evans will make you dinner. We'll think if something grand for you to win.

Southern Un-Hospitality

This last weekend I visited Tennessee (The Volunteer State-What are they volunteering for? - Who knows). We (Bri, Amanda, Adam and myself) drove down to Jackson to see our good friends Dylan and Marabeth. Then on Saturday we drove over to Nashville to see the Red Wings play the Nashville Predators. And then all hell broke loose.....the fans at the Sommet(soh-May) Center are crazy and rude. As you may have heard -The Wings got wasted at the game for a 8-0 shutout. I'm making no excuses for them, but they were on the second night of back-to-back games and they had to travel. Anyways, The fans were rude. After every goal they chanted:

"Coooonnnkklin.....Coooonnnkklinn......You Suck! You Suck!"

I felt like I was back at a Ferris State college hockey game. Every time that the announcers said: "Red Wings are on the power play" the crowd would chant "And they still suck!".

On top of all of that- the video team at the Sommet Center kept playing pre-made videos of the Wings bench with really old men in their uniforms and on respirators.

I did a little research on the chants and found out that the fans have given themselves the name "Section 303" and "Cellblock 303"and the have a myspace page that directs the fans on what the official chants are. Here's an excerpt from the page:

Watch the video below - the very very cheesy "finger thing" that Taylor Swift does at the end of the video is what the Predator fans call "Fang Fingers" - the entire stadium does it when the Predators go on a power play. And then I laugh for ten minutes.

Mindless Self-Indulgence

Hello All - I haven't wrote one of these in a while. I've been extremely busy. So busy in fact that I haven't "stuck to my guns" with the whole eat better and workout plan. I gave in and ate some pizza the other day. Pizza is one of my favorite things, Some people say things like "I'm burnt out on pizza" or "I'm sick of eating pizza", I have never and will never utter those words from my lips. Also, I have missed working out for the last two weeks, I'm still eating pretty good though (besides the whole pizza debacle), and I'm keeping some of the weight off - I've lost a total of 25 pounds since December.

*Spoiler alert* - Tom is now going to talk about his underpants.

So, For valentines day - I bought my wife a single reeses peanut butter heart, because she loves them and she is on a diet too. And I tried to make it seem like that's all that I got her. Then later I told her that the rest of her gift was in the back room, It was a bottle of wine, a fleece blanket and a box of the reeses things. So then she gives me my present (that I told her not to buy). Underwear. I know what your thinking that this is some erotic male lingerie but it's not -ok. Just plain old underwear - I needed some - but at first I thought, Why? It's not that I hated them, but if I would have bought her a bag of grandma's Walmart specials for valentines day, she would've probably been mad.

Anyway's - I finally opened up my gift and wore them today, and I have to say that they are the most comfortable underwear that I have ever owned.

Ok - sorry for the long blog today. One more topic: The band that I'm in (The Michael Blair Project) has an upcoming show. I however will not be at this particular show, I will be out of town that weekend. But, at this show we will be promoting another show on April 4th at The Modern Exchange with some other pretty sweet bands (I promise that there will be no screaming, besides the shear volume of all 4 of our applauding fans). This Random Multiple Choice Question Saturday is inspired by an event that happened on Thursday when I was at lunch.

The guy sitting right behind us was, what we in the biz call, a "Loud Talker". He was talking on his cell phone as loud as he could, for our entire meal. It was very annoying. So here you go:

What would you do in this situation?

A. Pull him up out of his seat by his shirt and slam him up against the wall and scream: Shut Up!
B. When you're done eating, politely ask him to talk quieter on his phone when he's in Subway.

This Type Of Thinking (Could Do Us In)

I see the same lady driving the same green escort and least once a week on Eureka Rd. She has a "Princess" sticker on her bumper and she is usually doing something else in her car while driving, (don't we all) like eating or singing. Do other people pay this much attention to people? Or is it just me?

Is it weird that I find myself questioning whether or not it is acceptable to order a large "Black" coffee when 90% of the employee's at the Timmy H that I go to are African American.

Verse 2:
I see the same guy standing at the Smartbus bus stop almost every morning on my way to work. I notice him because he is a server at the Southgate Red Robin and we call him "Chocolate Rain" because he looks like Tay Zonday, who sings "Chocolate Rain" on YouTube. Chocolate Rain guy, If you ever read this, I'm not trying to offend you - but you really do look like him.

Little Miss Understood

So Apparently my b-word, "One Too Many Mornings", was misunderstood by some. I guess that you all thought that my chiropractor is horrible for some reason. Well, it wasn't written right, it came out wrong - or with little explanation. So here's the ex-plan-a-tion:

I have had back problems ever since I worked at FedEx in 2002. When I started going to Odette chiropractic in 2003, I had 2 pinched nerves in my back. I was seeing another chiropractor until he left Odette's somewhere around 2004 - that's when I started seeing Dr. Nick. Now, years later he has his own practice in Newport and I drive down to his office once a month or so for a visit. Anyways, If you know anything about chiropractic, then you would know that the pain does not "vanish" after an adjustment. It takes a little bit of time. So for those of you who didn't get that(Adam Gorsline) - there's your ex-plan-a-tion. Dr. Nick is awesome and I know it's a bit of a drive, but, if your thinking about going to a chiropractor, he's the best.

Every Day is Opposite Day in the Mitten

There is a simple traffic law in the United States: Keep right, Pass on the left. It's so very very simple to do, and yet drivers, generally of the Michigan kind, don't get it. In fact, they do the opposite. They stay left, forcing other cars to pass them -- on the right.

This is not a rant about how I just want people out of my way on the commute into work, I even find myself guilty of breaking this law this sometimes. I understand how this could be easily confused with a "Everyone is wrong" kind of attitude - but it's not.

Following this simple rule allows for traffic, on freeways especially, to keep moving and not "jam". It safely allows for an accident that did happen to block part of the road and for traffic to keep moving, and it would drastically decrease the amount of accidents that involve trying to pass on the right, because there wouldn't be any passing on the right.

Death and all of his Friends

Today, When I got to work I was informed that one of our employees at our PA branch was killed in a car accident the night before. I had only met this person once and had interacted with him a few times via e-mail and on the phone. I really didn't know him at all, but, for some reason it hit me like a ton of bricks. I couldn't stop thinking about him all day, and about how uncertain life is. One minute you are working like crazy and you can barley pay your bills and your fighting with your friends and you just think that your life is horrible, and the next minute you could be dead. Then, life, with all of it's troubles, would seam to be a better alternative, right? I guess it's up to interpretation.

What I'm trying say is: I tend to seam dissatisfied with my current situation, whatever it may be, But, that's what life is about. I should be ok with whatever situation I'm in and trust in God no matter what.

One Too Many Mornings

I could not sleep last night. I kept waking up with back pain. I was shoveling out the upper part of our 17 car driveway that has yet to be shoveled this year, so we could fit more than two cars in it, because my cousin (David J. Hagaman) was coming over to watch the Wings game with me. Well, I moved wrong or something and threw my back way out of wack. I was thinking about a hundred different things too. So, I couldn't sleep at all last night.

I knew that when I got up in the morning I would have to make a trip out to see Dr. Nick at Newport Chiropractic (Ad space is now for sale on my b-word). I was prepared to do so. I got up, called my boss, gave him the low down and then took off for the chiropractor. Now I'm sitting at work, an hour and a half late for work by the way, and I am still in pain and I haven't ate a thing yet. So, all in all a wonderful, and joyous morning.

Soul Meets Busy Body

I've been horribly busy the last three days. Too busy to work-out. Too busy to eat. Too busy to do anything but work and a MBP practice on Monday and a LW praise band practice tonight. It has effected every aspect of my life. I've been too tired, I went to sleep at 10:30 last night. If the 15 year old version of me were standing next to me, he'd slap me as hard as he could for being so lame. I didn't work out last night...cue awesome cartoon illistration now!

I was really mad at myself for not working out. I've been crabby all the way around. I wouldn't shovel the driveway this morning for my wife....I know, I'm a terrible person, but - it was still snowing and the only reason that she wanted it shoveled was to get her car started for her. In my opinion, an inch of snow is not worth waking up your very very tired husband at 6 a.m.

I know....I'm a terrible person, so be it.

Thomas is the perfect name for me, because someday's I am "Thomas The Doubter". I doubt that God will provide. But, logically, He always has - so- why wont he this time?

Ok so, I have been having another reoccurring dream and it's even weirder than the others. It's a reoccurring\continuing dream. Different events happen in every dream, but the characters, setting and plot are the same.

In this dream my main focus is a house that is haunted, and I am a scientist who is trying to make contact with ghosts (I may or may not believe in this. All ideas, thoughts and movie ideas are registered trademarks of my sub-conscious).
In the dream I keep seeing flash backs of the people who lived in this house, mostly flashbacks of the kids playing with their toys. After one of these flashbacks, I get an idea of how to communicate with the ghosts. I set-up all of my equipment in what used to be the kid's room and I take out all of his toys, one of them being a toy truck. I somehow tell this spirit to move the truck forwards to say yes and backwards to say no. I then start asking him questions: Did you see who killed you and your family? The truck moved forward. Was it a man?the truck moves forward, And so on.

Ok, so here's the weird part. In this dream, I am the main character, But, I am not Tom Hagaman. I am some old weird dude and I wear a white lab coat like scientists do the movies. It's strange.

When I was in the shower this morning I was thinking about my dream and how creepy it was, I thought: What if this old man that I play in this dream is a real person who lives in my neighborhood, somewhere near my house, and I am "stealing" his dream. I think it's a good idea for a book or a movie.

Sorry for such a long b-word today, I had a lot to write about - I can't seem to get this dream out of my head.

I forget what the other responses were but I said, for a lack of a better answer, have a party with all of my friends! Yay. I know that sometimes I am not very creative, and then at other times I imagine that robots are attacking the earth I have to go save the day. (awkward pause)

Tell me All Your Thoughts on Woden, Cause I'd Really Like to Meet Him

The word "Wednesday" comes from the Old English language word "Wēdnes dæg" which means "Day of Woden". Woden was a god in the Anglo-Saxon Pagan religion in England until Roman Christianity became their prominent religion somewhere between the 7th and 8th century.

Woden was the leader of the "Wild Hunt" or "Woden's Hunt" which was a mythical group of spirits in the sky on a "hunt". This is often how they explained thunderstorms.

All in all I can't believe that, if I were to have lived in this time frame, that I would've believed this or believed in any of the other gods. But, who knows, we are more educated then they were, and back then people just believed things because the King said that it was true and this is all that they knew.

It's sad to think that some people were raised to believe in this religion and died believing that it was true. What will happen to those people who were never introduced to Christianity??

Time is a Number That Rests on a Wall

Some days I just wish that I was 15 again. I had no responsibilities, besides maybe mowing the grass, and life just seemed simpler. Sometimes I feel like my daily routine is like a video tape that rewinds every night and then plays again each morning.

If you know me, then you've probably heard me talk about how sometimes I imagine that I'm in a movie and it's the part of the movie where the characters are doing something like driving somewhere and there is a song that fades in and is the prominent sound for a few minutes. Well, that happened this morning, I was driving to work and listening to my iPod on shuffle and "Washington Square" by the Counting Crows came on (my favorite band, if at all not obvious by all of the references on this site). When I heard this lyric, "Now I live in the shadows, where light is electric. And time is a number that rests on a wall." I had one of those moments where I felt like if my life were a movie, that was a good take.

New Zealand police used Facebook to track down a safe cracker\burglar. They matched a picture from a security camera to pictures and a video of him on Facebook. Then eye-witness's identified him from the pictures.

In November, Australian authorities arrested five teenagers and made them pay a dine-and-dash bill after the restaurant owner identified them on Facebook.

A man that escaped from a jail in Georgia, used his real name to set-up a Myspace account that he regularly checked at a public library in Philadelphia. The police quickly re-arrested the man.

In Washington, PA, Myspace aided the police in the arrest of a man suspected of stealing two monkeys from a wildlife compound.

In Oakland, CA, Police used Myspace to retrieve the "street name" of a man suspected of killing a star high school football player.

The moral of all this is: If your going to commit a crime, don't advertise yourself on the Internet.

Also, don't commit crimes.

Every Town Has a Diner Where I'll Meet You and Crystal Our Server

There is a Leo's Coney Island close to my work, Jim(from work) and I eat there for lunch pretty regularly. As those of you who know me know, I have an issue with restaurants and poor customer service. For a brief example follow this link: http://apps.facebook.com/causes/160850?m=7bf7bab2.

Our waitress at Leo's is Crystal, She see's us when we walk in, points to the table that's in her section, and by the time that we have our coats off - she has a large coke (for Jim) and a black coffee and a large water (for me) at our table. And we only have to say that we'll have our regular and she knows what we want. That's awesome, but, familiarities aside, Ever since the first time that she was our waitress she has been the nicest customer service person that I have ever met, and to me that's amazing because she sure does make alot less then the Dell support specialist's do and she blows them out of the water and she seams like she like's her job and people!! Imagine that! (and she speaks English too!!!). And she's not just nice to us - we see how she treats the other customer's around us and, all in all, it's good business.

Anyway's if you ever hungry and your near Ann Arbor Rd. and Haggerty in Plymouth - Go to Leo's and ask for Crystal, it will be a pleasant experience.

After All the Dreaming I Come Home Again

This is from a dream I had last night, I tend to have dreams about everyone I know or who I have ever met. I have dreams about people that I met one time. My most reoccurring dream use to be of me getting up in the middle of the night going into the bathroom and then my reflection in the mirror comes out of the mirror and stabs me to death. Beautiful dream, isn't it? But as of late my dreams have been happy and most of them involve my good friend Anthony. They usual are of an actual events that happened just replaying in my mind, or sometimes he plays the role of random chacters in my dreams. Somtimes he's the driver of the car that I pass, or the teller at the window of a movie theatre. Sometimes he's the good guy and Sometimes he's the bad guy.

Anyways that's what my dream was last night - just a time that we shared once. Driving around, listening to DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince.

Crash (Into Someone Else)

Today, On my lovley drive to work in the midst of a million idioits, my truck was rear-ended by a snowplow truck. We pulled over and got out to inspect the damage. My bumper was bent in, the plastic top popped off and their were two dents and paint was scrapped off. Now in my experience with bad luck - I've learned that you HAVE TO make a police report for your insurance company if you plan on making a claim. I said this to the guy( Who look like he was maybe 17 years old) and he acted as if I was crazy and that this minor damge did not require a police report. I then asked to see his insurance card and I took all of his info, his insurance card did say just call in the damage if nobody was injured.

If you know me at all, then you can only imagne how I treated this guy because not once ( until the very end when he was getting into his truck) did he say "sorry" or act as if he was at falt. For instance, he asked for a pen, and I found one and I threw it at him. As hard as I could( ok, maybe not as hard as I could).

I'm going to stop ranting because my hands are shaking from being so mad at this guy.

Sleepless in Southgate

If you are going to plan on reading this b-word for any extended amount of time, you are going to have to get used to the fact that I have a sleeping problem and that I will whine about it alot. Tonight is another one of those nights where I just can't seam to "be tired" and at 10:00 am tomorrow, I will be a very useless person.

I find myself listening to music to try and aid sleep but that turns into more thought, thus no sleep. Video games, of course, they don't help either. Pop Tarts, unfortunately, no help at all.

Thinking about the fact that there is a tomorrow and there will be tasks tomorrow that will have to be accomplished and trying to prioritize those tasks now and wondering about what I will wear in the morning and if I will have a salad for lunch or an omelet or if that sound outside is a stray dog or an intruder trying to break into my house or if I will be killed by the incredibly uneducated Michigan drivers on my way to work - these things keep me awake and plague me every night.

So, I guess this is what blogging feels like. It's kind of like when you were in school and a paper, that you've known about for weeks, is due in the morning and your typing the uncorrected first draft now (At midnight) and that's what your going to turn in because you are going to fall asleep about half-way through and turn in a incredibly short two paragraph summarization of the Vietnam War.

Well, I guess this is it, Off I go into the world of blogging.

By the way I hate that word and from now on will only refer to it as the B-word.
